12 of 12: A Day in February 2025

It’s March 12th and I’m following the old blogger tradition and documenting my day with 12 photos. Thanks to Caro from Draußen nur Kännchen for keeping the tradition alive by providing a platform for these posts!

1/12: On my way to my old hometown. I took half a day off to visit my father, who is being visited by a medical evaluator to determine if he needs assistance. It’s hard because my dad doesn’t accept that we need external help.
2/12: The interview with the evaluator takes less than 45 minutes. Afterwards, my father prepares dim sum for us. The traditional love language. I don’t want to stay, but I feel guilty. So I stay.
3/12: Meanwhile, I take a look at the flyer the evaluator left us to inform us of what will happen next. I appreciate that it uses relatively little text, large fonts, and understandable language. It would be even easier to read if it used more active language and fewer technical words, more white space between paragraphs, and more contrast in the area with the green background. I also wonder if the flyers are available in different languages.
4/12: While my father prepares the dim sum, I work. My father brings shrimp dumplings to the desk with a curry dip. I didn’t want to eat in front of the screen, but now I do.
5/12: I take a break and accompany my brother to the supermarket and the Vietnamese restaurant to buy lunch. As we walk through the town where I grew up, I observe the changes and try to remember which shops were there when I was a child. I imagine what it would be like if I still lived here. What would my life be like? I am glad that I left the town.
6/12: I take the train back to Frankfurt and check if the subway works. The stations are closed due to the strike.
7/12: After not finding any secure alternative connections on the app, I decide to work from home. My boss is very flexible and trusting. I feel lucky.
8/12: I feel cold while working. I heat up a cherry pit cushion and put it on my lap. After I stop working for the day, I feel weak and cold. I think it’s because I didn’t eat enough today, I didn’t wear a hat in the cold outside, and the bad energy from the meeting with my father also affected me.
9/12: I quickly warm up my leftovers, drink some warm oat milk, and decide to curl up in my bed.
10/12: I take my pajama pants out of my suitcase, which I picked up at the post office yesterday after accidentally leaving it on the train last week. I sniff happily through my favorite clothes.
11/12: Since I still have a lot of things on my to-do list for my volunteer work and my side business, I feel like taking a break. But instead, I decide to make a reel of last week’s events to work on my visibility.
12/12: Finally, I start reading just for fun. Well, almost—to practice my English skills, I borrowed an English book from the public library.

It was a cold and gray day and it took a lot of energy to keep going. I am thankful that I was able to eat well and sleep well in my safe and cozy bed.

How was your day?
